Denial
"Draco, I need to talk to you," said Pansy Parkinson the moment Draco Malfoy opened his door to her.
Draco was reluctant; he was going on a date with Astoria Greengrass soon, but still let her in for old time's sake.
"I'm pregnant," Pansy said without preamble.
"No, you're not," Draco said.
"I am," Pansy said. "And you're the father."
"No, I'm not," Draco said, automatically.
"You bloody well are."
"Nah, we did it once, that's not enough."
"What do you call this?" asked Pansy pointing towards her belly, which had a noticeable curve to it.
"Weight gain?" asked Draco.
Anger
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Pansy snapped. "You think I'd be here saying this, if I wasn't sure? If I hadn’t done the bloody test!"
"Don't yell at me," Draco shot back. "Don't barge into my house and start telling me off of because you've got a problem."
"I've got a problem?"
"Yeah, you've got a problem. You're pregnant."
"Because you knocked me up!" Pansy wailed.
"Why weren't you on protection? Why didn't you take a potion afterwards? I trusted you and this happens, this is all your fault!"
Pansy was staring at him like she'd never seen him before.
Bargaining
"Okay, okay, okay," Draco said, sitting down in a chair and finally directed Pansy to one opposite. "We can sort this out."
"Sort this out?"
"Yeah, what you do you want?" Draco said, waving a hand.
"I wanted to have a grown up discussion about this and what we're going to do."
"Right, right," Draco said sardonically. "What are we going to do, and more importantly, what will it cost me?"
"Cost you?"
"Yes, to make this go away. How much is the operation?"
"Operation?"
"Whatever you want to call it. The operation. The support. Just tell me how much!"
Depression
Pansy sat there staring at him for a long time and the look on her face slowly sank into Draco's consciousness.
"You're not just wanting money?"
She shook her head slowly.
"You actually thought this would change things between us? That we'd have a relationship?"
Pansy just looked at him.
"This is going to ruin me," he said bleakly, his hand groping for a bottle of firewhisky. "And all because you're an easy shag who thinks we're a couple. I'm not supposed to be with you. I'm supposed to be with Astoria Greengrass. I'm late for a date with her."
Acceptance?
Draco tossed down his firewhisky in one gulp.
"Fine, fine," he said, sourly. "All right, I give up. I accept! You keep the baby and I'll marry you and we'll be one of those newfangled modern couples who don't love each other."
"When I walked in the room, I'd have done anything to hear the words 'I'll marry you'," Pansy said shakily. "Since then you've called me a liar, an idiot, a whore, and admitted you used me for easy sex. What makes you think marriage is on the table any more?"
Draco stared.
"You'll be hearing from my solicitor," Pansy said and left.
"Well... shit," Draco said.
He poured himself another drink and took refuge in returning to the first stage all over again.
