This was almost* perfect, MA. You took two canonically unlikeable characters and made me like them together.
Your story flowed organically almost. I liked how Zach instantly shifted into care mode and how he found a way to get Pansy the much-needed help. And Pansy, oh Pansy, she was perfect in her snarky usual self. And then the end, before the mini-epilogue,
"I can stay."
"For how long?"
"As long as you want me to, I suppose."
She ran her fingers over his knuckles and settled down against the pillow, her head tilting to rest against his upper arm. "I'll let you know when I don't."
Sigh, my heart just melted at that bit. Thank you for writing and sharing this lovely piece with us.
* Yeah, almost. Because you see, you left me dying with curiosity. I'm a nosy woman and I need to know who got Pansy up the duff. So, after the reveals, if you feel inclined to do so, please feel free to whisper the name of the bio father in my ear. Pretty please with a cherry on top? ;)
