Ginny lay still, staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep.
"What's the matter?" Draco murmured, tightening his grip on her waist.
"It's so quiet." She sighed. She'd grown up in a house with six brothers plus her parents, of course. The Burrow was never quiet in her experience.
Then she went off to Hogwarts where there were hundreds of students, teachers and even ghosts to keep her company.
Immediately after that, she and Harry moved into Grimmauld Place with Ron and Hermione. Then there were two weddings within a year of each other and babies followed shortly thereafter.
Even though their divorce had been fairly amicable, all things considered, there still had been shouting and crying and doors slamming. Fortunately, most of that had been while the children were at primary school. That was one thing she and Harry agreed on even when they agreed on little else.
Ginny moved back in with her parents temporarily and not long after crossed paths with recently-divorced Draco Malfoy. The rest, as they say, was history.
Now, in their very quiet house, in their very quiet bedroom, Ginny thought she might be going mad.
Draco pressed a kiss to her shoulder. "Have you given any more thought to bringing another bundle of joy into the world?"
Ginny sucked in a breath. They'd talked in broadest strokes about whether they might have a child together with neither ruling it out completely but she hadn't given it any serious thought. She assumed Draco was just humouring her.
"You'd like that?"
"A child with you? Very much so."
Ginny wrapped her arms around him, giddy with excitement. A baby!
Draco laughed and brought his hands up to cup her cheeks. "Shall we begin working on this now?"
"Oh, yes," she replied, leaning forward for a kiss.

Ginny lay on the couch feeling queasy.
"Is there anything I can get you?" Draco asked, seeming as if he wasn't quite sure what to do with himself.
"It'll pass soon enough," she said. "Morning sickness never lasted long with my other three."
"Astoria was quite ill with Scorpius," Draco said. "We were happy to have him, healthy and whole, but I do sometimes wonder if that's why she never wanted another child."
Ginny nodded. "For once I am glad the children are away. Hard to keep the pregnancy a secret when I've got my head in the toilet twice a day."
Draco sat down at the end of the couch and put her feet in his lap. "They'll be home for Christmas, all four of them."
"It will be a good time to share the news." Ginny let her eyes fall closed as Draco began rubbing her feet. "That feels brilliant."
Draco reached for her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze before continuing to massage her feet.

"Think they'll notice?" Draco asked as they stood at Platform 9 3/4 waiting for the Hogwarts Express to pull into the station.
Ginny looked down at her baby bump. She was just beginning to show but only those who knew her best would likely notice.
"We'll find out soon enough," she said, looking up when she heard the train whistle, the train coming into view shortly thereafter. She exhaled slowly and resisted the urge to rub her stomach.
What was it that made a pregnant woman constantly touch her growing belly? She didn't know but it was nearly impossible to resist.
Once the train stopped, the doors opened and hundreds of children poured out, calling to their parents and siblings.
"Mum!" Lily spotted them first and ran toward them, wrapping her arms around Ginny.
"Good to see you, darling," Ginny said, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
Scorpius and Al were next, their relationship as step-brothers not having changed their previous friendship one iota.
"Once James joins us, we'll head to the Manor," Draco said, putting an arm around his son's shoulder.
James finally stepped off the train after nearly everyone else.
"You must have grown two inches since September!" Ginny said as she wrapped her arms around her first-born.
"He's taller than Dad now," Lily chimed in.
"Nearly as tall as I am," Draco added, shaking James's hand which James quickly turned into a hug.
"Weasleys are huggers," Ginny said, smiling.
"Everyone ready?" Draco asked.
"Yes, Dad," Scorpius said. "I can't wait to see the decorations. It's my favourite time of year."
"You have anything you want to tell me, Mum?" James said quietly as they began making their way through the station.
Ginny tried to school her features before she looked up at him. "What do you mean?"
James looked down toward the hand on her belly—Caught!—then back up to her face, a wide grin spreading across his face.
"It's brilliant, Mum." He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and she leaned against him for a moment.
"We'll tell them over supper," Draco said, pulling Ginny into his arms as everyone else went their separate ways once they arrived at the Manor.
The sounds of footsteps on the staircase and laughter in the bedrooms made the house a lot less quiet and a lot more like home.
"James already figured it out," Ginny said, tightening her hold on Draco as they stood in the foyer.
Draco leaned back and brushed a stray lock of hair from Ginny's cheek. "I didn't hear a roar of disapproval so I take it he had no objections?"
Ginny shook her head. "It just occurred to me that you and Harry had Teddy come into your lives at a similar age."
"I certainly wasn't in a hurry to have my own child after that," Draco said, giving a mock shudder. Ginny knew he loved his cousin as much as Harry did.
"I think it made you both great fathers." Ginny took Draco's hand and led him toward the library.
Ginny sat down on the sofa and slipped off her shoes, closing her eyes against a wave of exhaustion.
"I'll wake you for supper."
Her hand settling over her belly, Ginny dreamt of a fair-haired toddler running through a field, chasing her older siblings, laughing and squealing with delight.
